United Way of Lowndes County Holds Day of Service
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The United Way of Lowndes County holds a day of service for kiddos at Joe Cook Elementary.
First responders from fire, police and EMT’s from Baptist were all on hand at the school showing students what they do in the event of a type of an emergency.
Kids got to sit up in an ambulance and check out the tools EMT’s carry.
Chief Meteorologist Keith Gibson and Meteorologist Jacob Dickey were also there talking about hurricanes and other natural disasters.
United Way Volunteer Director ReNee Sanders says they picked today for the event to share the history of 9/11.
“Here is our opportunity to share just a little bit about what happened that day, why it’s so important in history of us to actually acknowledge this day and to volunteer and give back to the community,” said Renee Sanders.
Columbus Air Force Base also attended the event.
