Video: UA, City Officials Focus on Counterfeit Tickets

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Officials from the University of Alabama and the City of Tuscaloosa say they’re planning to crack down on football ticket counterfeiters this season.

A local newspaper reports the city council recently amended Tuscaloosa’s municipal code to require all members of a ticket reselling business to buy $100 business licenses to legally operate. The amendment was focused on runners who buy tickets before sports events and return them to licensed resellers.

Assistant director for tickets Chris Besanceney says spectators can check the authenticity of their tickets Monday through Wednesday at Coleman Coliseum during business hours before game day.

Besanceney says fans should check their tickets for a holographic foil carrying the university’s logo. He says blurred printing is also a sign of a potentially counterfeit ticket.
