Two Columbus Post Offices Go to ‘Summer’ Hours
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Budget cuts are having an impact on two of three post offices in Columbus.
Hours at the stamp windows at the downtown and Alabama Street stations are being reduced to 9 to 3 Monday through Friday through September. Hours at the Bluecutt station will remain from 8:30 to 5:30.
The postal service says lower customer demand during the summer and overall declining usage is prompting the cutbacks to save money and better match personnel with schedules.
The postal service has been cutting services at post offices across the country as part of an effort to eliminate billions of dollars in annual deficits caused by declining use.
