Two Charges Dropped Against Columbus Doctor
COLUMBUS, MIss. (WCBI) — Federal prosecutors drop two charges against a Columbus doctor.
But 63-year-old Dr. Michael White Still faces a trial Monday in federal court in Oxford on six counts that he illegally prescribed potentially-addictive diet pills.
Federal agents raided his Columbus office in June 2011 as part of a broad investigation into what investigators called “pill mills” where drugs were prescribed without good medical reasons.
This week, prosecutors dropped a conspiracy and perjury charge against White.
If convicted on the remaining six counts, he faces up to 30 years in prison, more than a million dollars in fines, and the loss of his license and property.
