Two Alleged Boot Scooters Arrested

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Tupelo Police arrest two people accused of shoplifting and Burglary of a Vehicle.

Around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, police were called to 357 South Gloster, which is Tupelo Shoe and Boot Outlet. They were responding to a shoplifting call and a Burglary of a Vehicle call.

A male and female had stolen 2 pairs of boots from the Outlet and also broken into a vehicle, according to police. The suspects were described as white adults driving a white or silver Ford Sport Trac.

The next day, Valentine’s Day, TPD Patrol Officers spotted a vehicle matching that description on North Gloster and McCullough Boulevard.

A traffic stop was completed and driver William E. Smith was identified as a suspect in the earlier burglary.

Elizabeth Soto-Pickering

The passenger in the Ford, Elizabeth Soto-Pickering, was also identified as a suspect in the same burglary.

Both were arrested. Soto-Pickering and Smith were arraigned on Thursday with Lee County Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins who set bond at $10,000 each.

This case will be presented to the next term of the Lee County Grand Jury.
