TVA Opens New North Miss. Plant

ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) — The Tennessee Valley Authority is showing off its new gas plant in North Mississippi.

The organization held a dedication ceremony at the facility in Ackerman Tuesday afternoon.

TVA gave some residents tours of the natural gas plant, which is the fifth one in Mississippi.

It can produce 705 megawatts of electricity. That’s enough to power more than 400,000 homes.

“We really take our value and our mission of service very seriously, and so to show off one of our facilities, it’s a low cost, clean burning, natural gas facility, and so it really does exhibit the value of TVA for low cost, reliable, environmentally clean electricity,” said David Sorrick, Eastern Coal & Gas.

TVA purchased the plant last year.
