Tupelo Volleyball Duo Signs with Tougaloo
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI/THS Athletics) — Two Lady Wave volleyballers joined the Tougaloo Bulldogs family earlier today.
Outside hitters Morgan Hereford and Crystal Coleman lettered two years for Laurie Bishop’s tradition-rich volleyball program. As starters, their teams went 38-23 in two seasons.
“Both were very versatile players,” said Bishop, who just finished her third season as head coach. “They can impact both the offense and defense of a match.”
In their senior seasons, Hereford finished with 106 kills, 33 aces, and 30 digs; Coleman had 100 kills, 33 aces, and 61 digs.
Tougaloo, a private Jackson, MS college established in 1869, went 2-23 last season and 2-10 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference under fourth-year head coach Shandrea Taylor.
“I am proud of them and the hard work they have put in our program. I’m excited to see them take their volleyball to the next level,” said Bishop. “Coach Taylor is getting two excellent players but even better young women.”
