Video: Tupelo Salvation Army Prepares To Send Teams To Help With Hurricane Harvey and Irma Efforts
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Three team members from the Tupelo Salvation Army are preparing to leave and relieve other crews in Texas and Florida.
Two people will head to Texas and the third will go to Florida. All three will relieve Salvation Army crews who have been busy with the “Canteen” or feeding trucks.
Organizers say the needs are great for those who survived Hurricane Harvey and are now cleaning up, as well as those who are just returning to see what is left after Irma hit Florida.
The mobile canteens help feed anyone impacted by the hurricanes.
“Not just first responders, those who are affected, displaced, moved into shelters and crews that have not come in to help like crews from our area, other states that have come in to help, restore power and those things so it’s going to be quite an effort,” said Maj. Jeff Daniel, of the Salvation Army.
Teams will stay in their areas for two weeks at a time.
