Video: ‘Tupelo Reads’ Author Says Event Is Sign Of Thriving Community
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A best selling author says an initiative that encourages all residents of Tupelo to read, and discuss a book each year has many benefits.
Stuart Stevens is author of “The Last Season.” That book is based on Stevens’ return to the south, to spend football season with his ninety five year old Dad and their trips to see the Ole Miss Rebels play a season of games.
His book was chosen as this year’s selection for “Tupelo Reads” and Stevens was the guest speaker at a luncheon at the Lee County Library.
He says events such as “Tupelo Reads” brings communities together.
“It’s a tremendous project Tupelo started here and should be a model for other cities to do. There’s a real community of readers and writers out there and for them to go through and be able to connect and feel like there’s people out there reading your work is just so incredible,” Stevens said.
Stevens is the author of six previous books. He is also a political consultant, who worked on Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2012.
