Video: Tupelo Police Officer Involved In Fatal Shooting Returns To Department
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tupelo police officer who shot Antwun “Ronnie” Shumpert is back with the department Tuesday.
WCBI has learned that Tyler Cook is back at work. He’s on administrative duty.
A Lee County grand jury cleared Cook of criminal wrongdoing on Aug. 1. Cook shot Shumpert after he fled from a traffic stop June 18th.
The Shumpert family and its supporters continue to claim that Shumpert was killed unjustly. Attorney Carlos Moore says the family is “devastated” Tuesday to hear the news of Cook’s returned.
A civil lawsuit has been filed in federal court. Cook was placed on administrative leave after the June incident.
