Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton pulls out of U.S. senate race

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A month into the race for Former U-S Senator Thad Cochran’s seat, Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton says he’s out.
Mayor Shelton made the announcement Tuesday.
In the release he says “this election, at this time, is not right for me.”
The race now includes recently appointed Senator Cindy-Hyde Smith, as well as, Mike Espy, Toby Bartee and Chris McDaniel.
The special election is set for November 6th.
Governor Bryant tweeted out his support for the decision.
