Tupelo High School College Fair
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tupelo High school students had the chance to explore their options for college Tuesday (9/25) night.
It was the annual college fair at the THS gym. 45 colleges sent representatives, including all the Mississippi schools as well as institutions like West Point, and Harvard who had alumni volunteers man their booths to answer questions. Counselor Suzanne Blakey says in the tough economy a college degree is still a big advantage. “‘You know going to college just opens up many doors for students, gives them a better job opportunity, salary increase.” Blakey says the fair provides information on scholarships including opportunities like the United States Army which gives those who choose to enlist some great deals. She adds graduates of Tupelo High school can always choose to attend Itawamba Community College for free for two years, before deciding on a four year school.
