Trooper indicted for role in fatal wreck
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper is free on a $5,000 bond following his indictment on a Culpable Negligence Homicide charge.
Trooper Kyle Lee was driving his Highway patrol SUV nearly 100 miles per hour when he collided with a car carrying MSU track standout Kaelin Kersh.
Lee was charged because he did not have his lights or emergency sirens on while he was driving.
The wreck happened in May 2017 near the intersection of Highway 182 and Old Mayhew Road.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety has already reached a $500,000 settlement with the Kersh family.
