Trio arrested in Monroe County for alleged $20,000 check scam

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Three men have been arrested in Monroe County in connection to an alleged check scam in the area.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell said the trio attempted to cash $20,000 worth of rapid refund checks at a local business.

Jacoby Rashad Bell, 32, and Clinton Smith Jr., 37, were charged with Forgery.

They are both waiting arraignment.

Curtonio Walker was also charged with Forgery.

He is currently in Monroe County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.

Monroe County deputies said the case is still under investigation and more arrests are likely.
