Trial Date Set in School; Kidnapping Case
JACKSON (AP) – A woman charged with leading a scheme to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from an east Mississippi elementary school has been scheduled for trail Nov. 18.
Jesse Mae Brown Pollard is one of seven people charged in the scheme to kidnap the girl that authorities say was designed to pressure the child’s mother in a land dispute.
Authorities said Pollard is the cousin of the child’s mother. Pollard’s son, a former basketball player at the University of Alabama, is also among those charged in the case.
The child was taken from East Kemper Elementary School on April 30 and turned up unharmed on a rural road in Enterprise the next day.
The trial date was scheduled in an order Monday in U.S. District Court in Jackson.
She has pleaded not guilty.
