COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Christmas is the biggest travel holiday of the year. Millions of people are filling up their gas tanks and hitting the highways. A gallon of gas is averaging just under three dollars in the Golden Triangle. That isn’t stopping travelers from hitting the road for Christmas.
David Reedwood of Columbus says he’s not happy with the gas prices. However, he’s still heading to the beach in Destin, Florida: ” How much is that gonna cost you?”
“The gas is just shenanigans. They need to come on back down on it. It’ll take about five hours to get there.”
According to AAA, many motorists will go at least 50 miles from their home when traveling for the holidays.
“Actually, I just came from Denham Springs, Louisiana and I’m headed back to Denham Springs today.”
“What do you think about these gas prices? Has it been like a strain on your budget?”
“Yeah, it’s actually higher here in Mississippi than it is in Louisiana.”
Nearly 86 million people will travel by car this holiday season. Travel experts also say gas prices will hold steady during the holiday season.
