COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Cindy Lawrence says the train derailment at South Lehmberg has been cleared.
The busy east Columbus roadway is now open.
Crews had to wait for equipment to arrive before getting the 30 train cars back on the tracks.
The cars skipped the track about 1:30 A.M. on Friday.
The cars were among 106 in the eastbound train on the Alabama Southern rail line.
A four-foot section of broken track was blamed for the derailment.
