Tippah Man Dies In ATV Accident

Troopers are still investigating a Sunday afternoon crash that claimed the life of a Ripley man. At approximately 2:40pm, Troopers responded to MS 4, near County Road 548, to the two vehicle crash. Upon arriving it appeared Leroy Derrick, 93, of Ripley, was operating a Honda Rancher (ATV) when he apparently attempted to cross MS 4 and pulled into the path of a 2009 GMC Acadia. Derrick died on the scene.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

Derrick served as a constable of Tippah County for many years before retiring.
