Tippah County Politicians Switch To/Pick Republican Party
TIPPAH COUNTY, Miss. – A long time Tippah County politician switches sides.
County Supervisor Dennis Grisham announced Thursday (11/1) his intentions to join the Republican party.
Grisham serves District 4 and is serving his eighth consecutive term as supervisor. He is switching from the Democratic Party.
Grisham made his announcement at luncheon with guest speaker U.S. Senator Roger Wicker.
Also at the luncheon, Ripley Mayor Chris Marsalis officially picked the party he wants to represent.
Marsalis will now run as a Republican.
Marsalis won the mayor’s election in Febrauary with no party affiliation.
Marsalis told WCBI that he’s always been a republican and just wanted to make it official politically.
Since 2009, 55 former Democrats in Mississippi have switched to the Republican Party.
