Three arrests made in Columbus car burglary spree
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A car burglary spree in Columbus landed three people in jail.
Donqarous Stewart and Chrishon Lowe were both charged with multiple counts of auto burglary.
A juvenile has also been arrested but their name is not being released.
11 unlocked vehicles were burglarized in a 24-hour period last week.
Some of those break-ins occurred along 5th Street North.
Investigators said alert neighbors helped them quickly develop a suspect.
Police said locking your doors and rolling up your windows could keep you from becoming a victim.
“Seeing that there is a camera or laptop or iPhone laying in the seat, it’s real easy. Or if there’s money in the coin holder or in there, it’s real easy or if I look in the backseat and I see there is a gun or a backpack or something of value…it’s real easy for me to just reach in there and get it and we want to eliminate that by just following simple principles..lock up your cars, remove valuables,” said Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton.
If you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood, you’re encouraged to call police.
