The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to dwindle

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 continues to dwindle but death rates remain high.
Mississippi State Department of Health numbers show just over 1,500 new cases over the weekend but 42 people died from the virus.
State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs reports 161 patients are in ICUs throughout the state with COVID-19.
Hospitalizations were down to 521 this past Thursday. On August 19th hospitalizations peaked in the state at one thousand 667.
While the numbers are trending downward, people are still being infected.
Tishomingo, Pontotoc, Lowndes, Calhoun, Lee, and Itawamba Counties rank in the top 12 in the state for most new cases, per capita
