TREMONT, Miss. – (WCBI) Tremont High School students prepare and serve a feast for their community.
The school hosted a free community Thanksgiving lunch Tuesday, with turkey, dressing and all of the fixings. The cafeteria was bustling with holiday cheer, and plates were also delivered to the elderly and home bound.
Organizers say they wanted to do something to bring all generations of the community together.
The lunch was funded through donations to the school’s student council. What a difference a feather can make!
“We have a friendly competition throughout our school. K-12. Every kid could buy a feather for their favorite teachers or faculty members. Whoever wins has to dress up as a turkey at our homecoming game,” says Tremont Student Lakyn Todd.
It looks like Mr. Mike, the school janitor, will shake his tail feathers at the basketball game.
Several student groups are helping organize the event. The lunch was funded through donations to the school’s student council.
