Ten people running for open seat on Columbus city council

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Ten people are vying to be the next member of the Columbus city council.

The qualifying deadline was Wednesday evening.

The special election will be held on September 24.

If a runoff is needed, that be on October 15.

The seat came open after long-time councilman Gene Taylor died. He had served since 2006.
