Strong Storms This Weekend

TODAY: Look for highs to climb into the 50s under a mix of sun and clouds.  We anticipate things to stay mostly cloudy for a majority of us but some bigger breaks may play out for others.  An isolated shower remains possible.  Winds are out of the northwest at 5-10 mph.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the 40s and 50s under a mostly cloudy sky.  A few scattered showers are expected in the area.

SATURDAY: A mix of sun and clouds is anticipated with highs climbing in the 60s.  Look for a few isolated to scattered showers, but most will stay dry.

SATURDAY NIGHT: The chance for showers and thunderstorms returns after 9 PM.  Some storms will be on the loud side with lightning, thunder and even some hail expected.  Some uncertainty remains with what happens Saturday Night.  The more storms we see, the lower the chance for stronger storms will be on Sunday.

SUNDAY: Some strong to severe storms are anticipated across our region.  A slight (2/5) risk for severe storms exists, with the window of opportunity beginning early Sunday morning and lasting through Sunday afternoon.  The prime-time for strong storms would be from 8 AM to 2 PM.  If the warm front can surge far enough north, that may put more of our viewing area in play, but we’re focused right now for those along and south of the US 82 corridor.

Highs on Sunday will be in the morning, with temperatures south of the warm front soaring into the upper 60s, while highs to the north will only likely be in the 50s.  The cold front will come surging through in the late morning to afternoon, dropping temperatures quickly by Monday morning.  Lows will fall into the upper 20s with wind chills into the teens.

MONDAY – WEDNESDAY: We start bitter cold with wind chills in the teens.  Temperatures only climb into the 40s during the day, but we do see lots of sunshine.

THURSDAY – NEXT WEEKEND: Highs rebound into the 50s and 60s heading into the weekend.  We anticipate another weather system to slide in sometime next weekend as the weather remains active and more seasonal.
