Some Strong Storms Possible Tuesday Night
MONDAY NIGHT: Mainly cloudy conditions are likely with lows ranging from the mid 40s to lower 50s. Areas of fog are possible again and some could be locally dense. Winds stay light.
TUESDAY: Look for fairly cloudy skies and developing showers. The rain chance is going up to about 70%. High stay in the 60s. Locally heavy rain is possible north of the Golden Triangle, close to the Tennessee border.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Scattered showers and storms are likely and there could be a few isolated strong storms in the region. The volume of any severe weather is going to remain low with this setup but we can’t rule out some isolated damaging wind gusts and perhaps a brief tornado. Temperatures should only fall to around 60°.
WEDNESDAY: The best chance of rain is going to be in the morning with decreasing odds after noon. Highs should remain in the mid to upper 60s. Total rainfall amounts between Tuesday and Wednesday may range from about 1/3″ to over 2 1/2″.
THURSDAY: Winter officially arrives at 10:28 a.m. Mild highs around 70° are likely under a variably cloudy sky.
FRIDAY: Additional showers and storms are likely by the afternoon and evening. It’s still to early to tell if any of them will become locally strong. We should have highs around 70° one last time.
SATURDAY – CHRISTMAS DAY: Forecast models remain clear as mud. It does appear a sharp cool down will take place starting Saturday and highs by Christmas Day may only be in the 30s. As for moisture, it still appears likely that there will be some rain around during the holiday weekend. The big question is whether or not it will get cold enough to support at least some wintry weather by Sunday night and Monday. At this point it’s just too early to tell. Don’t change or cancel plan at this point, just be sure to check back with us during the next few days to get an updated take on the situation.
