Stray Bullets Strike Fire Station
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — It was a scary scene for a Columbus fire station early Friday morning when stray bullets rattled the building.
Three firefighters were in the station on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when it was struck at about 1 a.m. Police think at least two people were either shooting at each other or someone else across the street from the fire station on 18th Avenue North and stray bullets hit the station.
Investigators don’t think firefighters were the target.
At least seven shots were fired and shell casings were found in the 18th Avenue area.
No one has been reported injured.
Anyone who might have seen a vehicle or have other information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151 or Columbus Police. It could result in a reward.
