Storms Wednesday night, drastic cool down late week
SUMMARY: An active week of weather is ahead of us here in NE MS and West AL. The first of 2 cold fronts moves through on Monday, but it looks mostly dry as it moves through. Temps cool down quite a bit with nice weather for Tuesday. Wednesday, a second, stronger cold front will approach the area, bringing showers and storms Wednesday afternoon and evening. Since temps will be fairly cool, it remains to be seen if severe weather can make it as far north as the Columbus area. As of right now, most models don’t bring the ‘warm sector’ of this storm system, or the area where severe weather is most likely, far enough north to be a major threat. After that, temps cool even more for Thursday and Friday, with lingering cloud cover and showers. Clouds look to stick around for Saturday as well. They should finally clear out just in time for Halloween, leaving us with clear skies and crisp, cool weather.
SUNDAY NIGHT: A cold front approaching the area will cause clouds to increase through the night. Temps will hold steady in the low 60s. A few showers or storms are possible in the far NW part of our area, near Oxford, late in the night.
MONDAY: The showers and storms the front brings should quickly die out tomorrow, leaving most of the area dry. Clouds will filter out as the afternoon goes on, and we could end the day mostly sunny. Warm, with a high in the upper 70s.
MONDAY NIGHT: Clear skies and dry air will let our temps fall quickly, with lows dropping into the mid to upper 40s.
TUESDAY: A stunner of a day for Tuesday, with low humidity, lots of sunshine, and cool temps. Highs will be right around 70 degrees.
WEDNESDAY TO HALLOWEEN: Wednesday, humidity makes a quick comeback to the forecast. If the warm front can move north of US-82, expect a warm day in the mid 70s with the potential for severe storms. However, the most likely scenario is a cool, cloudy and rainy afternoon with a high near 70 degrees. We’ll know more details as the week goes on. Widespread showers and storms should end by Thursday, but clouds and a few scattered sprinkles or showers will linger on. Highs will only be in the mid 60s Thursday! Cloudy and cool weather remains in place for Friday and Saturday, and a few sprinkles are not out of the question. Highs will only be in the upper 50s to near 60! We finally clear out just in time for Halloween, with sunny skies, dry air, and highs in the upper 60s! Perfect trick-or-treating weather.
