Staying connected: Columbus residents apply for free cellular devices
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – One company is allowing Columbus residents to stay connected free of charge.
Entouch Wireless, a telecom group, signed people up for their program to receive government-contracted cell phones and tablets.
While there are many scams out there, Regional Manager Justin Crosby, said the company has taken a different approach by using mobile trailers and partnering with local organizations.
“We did our research and came up with mobile units and partnered with groups like United Way and the Salvation Army. Anyone that is a legitimate organization and has a site agreement. .. We want to make sure when anyone comes and gets a phone or a tablet at AT&T, Verizon, or TMobile at any time of the day they can be serviced and helped and not have to worry about someone showing up today with a tent and tomorrow you can’t find them,” Crosby said.
Crosby said they are also planning to operate some brick-and-mortar locations.
