State Lawmaker Faces Domestic Violence Charge

COLUMBUS (WCBI) – State Representative Kabir Karriem is free on bond following his Tuesday morning arrest.

Lowndes County Detention Center records show the 41 year old Karriem was arrested at 7:09 AM by Columbus Police on a domestic violence charge.  The booking arrest sheet shows he was released on his own recognizance.   WCBI has requested more information on the circumstances surrounding the arrest from Columbus Police.  This is not the first time the District 41 Representative has been arrested.  He was picked up in 2010 followng a fight with Columbus Mayor Robert Smith but those charges were eventually dropped.  WCBI will be following this developing story and have the latest as it becomes available
