Starkville’s Rogers Signs With Jones County Hoops
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Starkville Yellowjackets guard Blake Rogers will continue his basketball career, signing with Jones County Community College, Wednesday.
Rogers said he had multiple offers, but decided to choose Jones County over ICC.
“My relationship with the coaches was a big factor,” Rogers said about his decision.
“I understood their plan. It best fit me, their playing style.”
Not only was Wednesday a big day for Rogers’ hoops career, but it was also his birthday.
Starkville won more than 20 games each year with Rogers on the roster, as well as making state playoff appearances.
Starkville head basketball coach Greg Carter believes Rogers has a chance to reach the Division One level.
“The way he shoots it, at the three-point line, the way everyone talks about the three-point shot…it’s becoming so much more of a factor, that I think everyone wants a shooter like him,” Carter said about Rogers, “People doubted him a little bit about coming out of high school, because of his athleticism, but I think his shooting ability takes care of that.”
