Starkville’s Blair Schaefer Named to Clarion-Ledger’s Dandy Dozen
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Senior point guard Blair Schaefer has made quite an impression after her first season playing hoops here in Mississippi.
After spending her high school career playing basketball in Texas up until last season, the now Starkville Yellow Jacket was named to the Clarion Ledger’s girls’ basketball Dandy Dozen today.
If the last name sounds familiar, that’s because it is: Blair’s father, Vic, is the head coach of the Mississippi State women’s basketball team. While Vic is making a name as a coach, Blair is doing it on the court.
Schaefer, the starting point guard for the Lady Jackets, averaged over 22 points per game last season and over 6 assists per game.
Blair, along with eleven others, were named to the Dandy Dozen list which is comprised of the best high school girls basketball players in the state.
She is currently verbally committed to play for her father at Mississippi State beginning in 2014. Schaefer joins Scott Central’s Victoria Vivians as MSU verbal commitments on the Dandy Dozen for 2013-2014.
