Video: Starkville Leaders Approve Carver Drive Bid

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)– The drainage ditch on Carver Drive is getting some much needed improvements.

In a 5 to 2 vote, the  Starkville Board of  Alderman accepted Precision Construction’s $670,000 bid to concrete a portion of the ditch. Precision is based out of Hattiesburg.

The Carver Drive portion of the project has been a hot button issue for several years. City leaders will be using a CAP loan and $50,000 dollar from the city. Aldermen Ben Carver and Jason Walker voted against the bid.

With a 6 to 1 vote, the board also supported a resolution supporting the Mill project.

The move was necessary so that lawmakers can fast track legislation that will allow the $40 million development to progress.
