Starkville Housing Authority hosts hot plate food giveaway
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The worst of times can sometimes bring out the best in people.
That was the case Tuesday at the Starkville Housing Authority.
Molina Healthcare partnered with the Starkville Housing Authority and local restaurant Where The Food At to provide members of the public with a hot meal.
Hand sanitizer, book bags, and even a few toys were also given away at the event.
Organizers said they hope people walk away with a little more than just what’s on their plate.
“I hope that they take away some form of a release. I know everyone has been couped up in their homes, you know, during the pandemic, I’m just happy that we could provide some type of release. A stress reliever, a meal, I’m just happy that we could provide some type of service for our residents,” said Starkville Housing Authority Executive Director Amy Bishop.
“With the shortage of food and unemployment on the rise, we just feel like providing hot meals because families and individuals have been affected by this pandemic with different hardships,” said Molina Healthcare representative Elnora Smith.
The theme of the event was “We’re All Essential”
