Starkville High class of 2003 donates to local foundation
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A nonprofit organization in Starkville now has some extra help to fulfill its mission of feeding the hungry.
During their recent reunion, members of the Starkville High School class of 2003 incorporated a service project into the celebrations. They launched a fundraising drive and chose the Safe Place Foundation to donate the proceeds.
Sunday morning representatives from the class presented a check for $2,003 to the foundation’s executive director, SaPerior Patton.
“I can feed so many people with $2,003. We have our annual Thanksgiving dinner coming up. It’s our fourth annual Thanksgiving dinner. And we’re planning to feed 300 to 400 people and so this will help so, so much. I graduated in 2002, so for the class of 2003 to think so much about what our foundation is doing to want to pour back into the community to help. That just means the world to me,” Patton said.
