Starkville Detective Honored With Award

STARKVILLE, Miss. (SPD RELEASE) – Chief R. Frank Nichols and the Starkville Police Department would like you to help us congratulate Detective Sergeant William Durr!

On Monday, April 3, 2017, Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood presented him with the 2017 Distinguished Service Award from the Crime Victim Compensation Division.

Sergeant Durr enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1990 and served as both an aviation electrician and military policeman. After completing his enlistment, he returned home to Starkville.

In 1995, Durr began serving his community as a Starkville Police officer. Since then, he has proudly served the City of Starkville in various roles within the law enforcement area, including patrol officer, community policing officer, warrant officer, and detective.

William has spent the past 12 years in the investigations division and currently serves as Sergeant of the detectives unit.
