STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-It’s something the Starkville Community looks forward to every year. And it’s not football.
Family and Friends got together for some fun and to meet NBA player, Travis Outlaw.
Not only does the day honor his accomplishments, but it’s a way Travis says thank you.
“For all the support they have given me my whole career I just want to show I’m appreciative of it,” says Travis Outlaw.
Travis says this event would not be possible without the help from volunteers.
“The Mississippi State girls wanted to come out and help and then from my old coaches a lot of volunteers and people just coming to show their support,” says Outlaw.
“It’s an honor to meet Travis Outlaw it’s a great opportunity for us to give back to the community being here Mississippi State basketball players it’s a great opportunity for us to meet in the community get some more people to come to our games and just to give back,” says Candace Foster.
The Mississippi State women’s basketball team even got to join in on some games.
“Well they have us involved in a lot of games and stuff so we get to communicate and play around with little kids and stuff,” says Martha Alwal.
Each year the event attracts more guests. Travis says that’s because of the hard work that goes into it.
“What you put into something is what you get out of it. I’m really appreciative I’m grateful and I try to do what I can to give back,” says Outlaw.
There was plenty of great food and activities for the whole family to enjoy.
