Starkville Board of Aldermen approve annexation plan

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI() – After a year and half of talk, the Board of Alderman in Starkville have approved an annexation plan.

Mayor Lynn Spruill said the plan has everyone excited.

It’s been modified a few times after hearing from people living in the bulldog city.The city had three public hearings discussing the annexation.

The board voted Tuesday night to annex towards the area of Highway 182 towards the University and the Clayton Village area.

Mayor Spruill hopes to one day make plans to expand out west but right now it’s in the opposite direction.

“Right now it’s to the east. That’s where we see apartment complexes going up, a lot of business activity and potential activity as well,” said Mayor Spruill.

Mayor Spruill said it’s an exciting time to show that Starkville is a growing city.
