Special election date set for Columbus Ward 1 city council seat

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The special election date to fill the Columbus Ward 1 city council seat is set.

Qualifying begins Wednesday and will end on September 4.

The special election will be held on September 24. If a runoff is needed, that be on October 15.

The Ward 1 seat came open after the death of long-time councilman Gene Taylor.

He had served since 2006.
