Some Girls Recant Abuse Claims
DUCK HILL, Miss. (WCBI) — Several girls whose claims of alleged abuse shut down a home for troubled girls in June have recanted their stories.
The girls made their allegations against Jimmy and Donna Prather, who ran the Hope Christian Home and Academy in Montgomery County near Duck Hill. It prompted the state Department of Human Services to remove 17 girls.
But now, The Grenada Star reports many of those girls have changed their stories during depositions in a lawsuit involving the center. The girls say they were tricked into lying about the Prathers by some older girls at the center.
There’s no word from the state on what may happen next.
