Soldier Dies in Helicopter Crash

SHUBUTA, Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi soldier is among six killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan.

Officials say, six U.S. soldiers died on Tuesday from injuries they sustained in the crash. 22-year-old Army Specialist Terry Gordon of Shubuta, Mississippi was among those who died. Gordon was based at Fort Riley along with four other soldiers who perished after their Black Hawk UH-60 went down Tuesday during a mission in Zabul.

Gordon was the fifth resident from Clarke County to die in military service since Sept. 11, 2011.
