SMITHVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-The economy has had a negative impact on small businesses, that’s why one organization is stepping in.
The SBA Small Business Workshop for Monroe County was held in Smithville Saturday where individuals could come and learn how to grow their business or start one. Although Small businesses in Mississippi are down from all-time record of over $274 million due to large incentives in 2010, lending remains strong. The District director says, small businesses impact our nation more than we realize that’s why they are pushing small business growth in Monroe County.
“About 98%-99% of all businesses in the nation are small business. So it’s the back bone of the economy. Small businesses are the ones that innovate, they invent, they create and retain jobs so it’s really important for this area,” says Janita Stewart.
