Shumpert Family Claims Tupelo K-9 Attacked Before Fatal Shooting
TUPELO, MS ( WCBI) – The attorney for the man shot to death by Tupelo Police June 18th is now saying a Tupelo K-9 had bitten Antwun “Ronnie” Shumpert before he was shot by Tupelo Police. Carlos Moore says his investigation shows the dog bit Shumpert in the abdomen and groin when officers found him hiding under a home on Harrison Street.
Moore says Shumpert was shot as he was trying to defend himself from the dog attack.
The investigation into the case is now being handled by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation who will then turn the results over to the District attorney.
Moore is also asking the city to release the name of the officer involved in the case.
