Showers and Storms Likely Tonight

FRIDAY:  Highs are expected to be in the 70s again in most areas, with a few spots towards I-55 only seeing the upper 60s.  A cold front will push across the area during the afternoon and evening bringing with it scattered showers and a few storms.  At this point we don’t envision any strong or severe activity in our area.  Behind the front, chilly air will quickly filter in with temperatures falling into the 50s and 40s rather quickly.  We’ll also have lingering showers behind it which will keep it chilly and wet through the night.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Clouds and cold rain showers will linger as temperatures continue to cool into the 40s and 30s.

SATURDAY:  A few showers and a band of clouds may be present southeast of the Natchez Trace during the first half of the morning but a nice clearing trend is going to occur everywhere as the day unfolds.  Highs may only top out in the mid 50s and a NW winds is going to make it feel even cooler.  Suffice to say you’ll need a coat in Oxford for the Ole Miss game that kicks off at 11 a.m.

SATURDAY NIGHT:  FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FOR AREAS NORTH OF US 82.  A widespread frost or freeze is looking more likely with expected lows in the low 30s.  You’ll definitely need to protect your plants.

SUNDAY:  Nearly wall-to-wall sunshine is going to allow for a pretty nice day but highs will struggle up to around 60°.  Another frost or freeze is possible Sunday night.

NEXT WEEK:  Conditions are going to moderate for Halloween and early November.  Some showers are possible by Wednesday & Thursday.
