Shots Fired Outside Eupora High School Lands One Person Behind Bars
EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI)- There were some tense moments in Webster County after a shooter allegedly opened fired outside of Eupora High School around 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon.
The Webster County Sheriff’s office and Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed a white man on a dirt bike rode up to campus and fired multiple gunshots near the school’s band hall.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation said 21 year-old Cole Breazeale of Eupora was taken into custody and is being detained at the Webster County Jail.
He’s being charged with one count of aggravated assault.
According to family members, officers picked Breazeale up from a home on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, which is also where investigators confiscated a dirt bike that’s believed to be the one involved in this incident.
“Right now it’s in the investigation phase. It’s been turned over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, they will be looking into what happened today. We are not going to be issuing any more comments until the investigation is complete, but they are taking over the investigation and handling it from here,” said Landon Griffin, investigator with the Webster County Sheriff’s Department.
The good news in all of this is that no injuries were reported.
Along with MBI, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Eupora Police Department, MHP, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Homeland Security, and the District Attorney’s Office are all involved in this investigation
