Shots Fired at Columbus Police, Four Suspects Arrested
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus police spent almost four hours in a standoff this morning after shots were fired at officers on duty.
Officers on foot patrol near the 600 block of 22nd Street North say shots were fired at them about three o’clock this morning. Two men, then ran into a nearby apartment and wouldn’t come out.
Negotiation attempts were made multiple times with no response.
The swat team was called and entered the apartment about seven Sunday morning. Four suspects were taken into custody without incident. Two of the suspects will be formerly charged on Tuesday. Officers also recovered a weapon.
The incident is still under investigation and we’ll bring you more details as they become available.
