Heavy rain overnight has lead to rapid runoff and flooding across
much Lowndes County Mississippi. Rainfall amounts from 2 to 4 inches
fell across the area and has caused flash flooding and river
flooding.
* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
expected.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Mississippi, including the
following county, Lowndes.
* WHEN...Until 100 PM CDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding is imminent or occurring along Magby creek,
which will lead to restricted access to homes and roads in the
Masonic Subdivision. Other small streams, low-lying and
flood-prone locations are also likely to experience flooding.
Streams will continue to rise over the next few days due to excess
runoff leading to road closures and possible water in homes and
businesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1150 AM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of
rain have fallen.
- As waters rise quickly through the day, homes may need to be
evacuated. although, no additional rainfall is expected,
flooding impacts are expected to continue for the next few
days.
