Starkville, Mississippi (WCBI) – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker spoke to the Golden Triangle Chapter of the Military Officers Association on Thursday night.
He touched on a number of national topics, including the VA scandal and reform bill.
Wicker also talked about national defense.
The Mississippi Republican says if the U.S. military would have stayed in Iraq, the country wouldn’t be under the threat of the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).
“We could have left 15,000 U.S. troops there, along with our allies. They wouldn’t have been in combat, but they would have been a stabilizing force. And in my judgement, ISIS wouldn’t have been able to come into Iraq,” said Wicker.
Wicker also tells WCBI he disappointed the U.S. Senate has not passed more legislation.
