WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) — The final Roby indicted in the West Point stabbing death of 27-year-old Marcus Payne has been convicted.
27-year-old Latwanna Roby yesterday pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter, following her cousin Natisha Roby’s 20-year sentence the same day on one count of second degree murder.
Latwanna was arrested in 2012 in connection to Payne’s death, along with Natisha and Shunbrinca Roby. Shunbrinca was convicted in April for murder, and was sentenced to life with Mississippi Department of Corrections with the possibility of parole.
Latwanna was sentenced on one count of manslaughter to 20 years with MDOC, with the possibility of parole after 10 years, and a $1,000 fine.
24-year-old Natisha was charged in 2012.
Natisha was allegedly an accomplice to the incident.
Circuit Court Judge Lee Howard sentenced Natisha to 20 years in Mississippi Department of Corrections on one count of second degree murder with a $1,000 post-release fine.
Howard said Roby’s lack of a violent criminal history tilted him toward the minimum sentence.
EDIT: WCBI reported Monday that Natisha Roby received a 3-year prison sentence. This was incorrect, and has since been updated to her actual 20-year sentence.
