Search Begins For Pontotoc County Shooter

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Pontotoc County man is recovering after being shot at his business Thursday morning, and a search is on for the trigger man.

Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask says the victim called 911 saying he had been shot at his auto repair shop in Ecru.

Sheriff Mask says the victim claims the suspect parked in front of the business, on Highway 15, got out of his car, came into the office, and shot him.

The victim was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Sheriff Mask says he hopes to talk to the victim soon.

“We just need more information at this time, we got to get more information, trying to find out what the situation was, why someone came in his office and shot him,” says Sheriff Mask.

The victim says the shooter was driving a red car, and headed North on Highway 15 after the incident.

North Pontotoc Attendance Center was placed on lockdown for a brief time as authorities investigated the shooting.
