Saturday Covid 19 numbers tick upward

(JACKSON)- WCBI  New Mississippi Department of Health figures released Saturday morning show 288 new cases of the virus .  That pushes the total cases to 9,378.   The death total grew by 12 putting the fatalities to 421 since March 11th.   Analysts say the numbers continue to climb in part because testing is becoming more common.  90,472 tests have been performed by state and private providers.   Regionally Monroe County still sets the pace by hitting the 200 confirmed case mark.

The Health Department releases the number of recoveries weekly with that new set due Monday.  The May 3 recovered figure was 4,421 in Mississippi
